Robert S.  Smith
Robert S. Smith, 79, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Shirley (Hale) Smith, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at St Francis Hospital. Born in Meriden, he lived in the Hartford area most of his life. Prior to his retirement, Bob worked for many years at CIGNA Insurance Company. He was a faithful communicant of St. James Church in Rocky Hill and a member of the Lions Club. Bob was an active member of The Irish American Home Society and served on the Rocky Hill St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee for many years and was named Rocky Hill Parade honoree. In addition to his wife Shirley, Bob leaves his son and daughter-in-law Robert T. and Colleen Smith of Burlington, his grandchildren Amanda Smith of Burlington and Michael DiFabio of Cranston, RI, a son-in-law, Anthony DiFabio of Cranston, RI, an uncle, David D’Arche of Newington, a cousin Susan Witzke of FL and two nieces and a nephew, Jennifer Finnegan, Jessica Corriveau and Damon Smith all of New Jersey. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lori (Smith) DiFabio, his brother and sister-in-law Peter and Rebecca Smith. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Smith family, Friday, November 7, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 9am from the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Bob’s life at 10 am in St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Interment will follow the Mass in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 581 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brooks St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
