Obituary for Joanne M Foran (McDonald)

Joanne (McDonald) Foran, 90, of New Britain, formerly of Wethersfield, beloved wife of over 50 years, to the late Richard Foran, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023 with her family by her side. Joanne was born on June 17, 1933 to the late John and Anna (Martin) McDonald in Hartford. Joanne was a proud graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy in West Hartford, Class of 1951. After graduation, she went on to become a Pastoral Secretary at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford. Joanne loved to knit and was an avid reader. She was known by all of her children's friends for her cookie making, especially her chocolate chip cookies. She was also proud of her dollhouse which she made and furnished by hand. Joanne loved to travel; she especially enjoyed her trips with her grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, and her friends the Conroys. Joanne was always ready for any adventure, whether it was down the street or across the ocean. Joanne was at the heart of the family and loved her children and grandchildren immensely; she showed her support for them by never missing an event and volunteering to help in any way she could.
Joanne will be missed by her children, David Foran and his wife Patricia of Reston, Virginia, Michael Foran and his wife Laura of New Britain, Richard Foran and his wife Rachel of Manchester, Mary “Katie” Parmenter of Middletown and Amy Giveans and her husband Richard of Portland. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Juliana Foran, Jonathan Foran, Annina Foran, Joseph Foran and his wife Jeanine, Megan Parmenter and her partner Sam Schwartz, Lindsey Parmenter and her fiancé Phillip Harder, Christy Parmenter and her partner Ryan Carlucci, Nicholas Foran, Connor Giveans and Kiera Giveans, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Charles Stewart and their children. Joanne was predeceased by her brother Rev. David McDonald.
Friends and family may call on the Foran family on TODAY, Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road Wethersfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Joanne’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 10:00am in the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave. Hartford. All attendees are asked to go directly to church. Burial to follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield.
