Obituary for Doris E. Piszko

Doris Eva Piszko of Hartford departed this life February 6, 2021. She was born to the late William and Sophie Lucy (Bryda) Piszko of Hartford, CT on June 11, 1943. Born of Ukrainian-American nationality, Doris spent much of her childhood time in New Britain, CT, where a large portion of her family lived. She resided in the south side of Hartford, Frog Hollow. Doris was raised in the Orthodox Ukrainian church faith. She began working at Colts Firearms in 1969 as a timekeeper and ultimately became a builder/repair specialist, and she eventually retired in 2013. Doris enjoyed going to gym, going on long walks and swimming. She was a funny, caring and very giving person who loved hosting summer picnics and cooking on holidays.

Doris leaves behind her, sister and brother-in-law Katherine Anne and Tony Fusco, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, Darlene Guthrie, Veronica Nixon, and Yasmin Gonzalez.Darlene Guthrie and the family would like to express our thanks and appreciation to all the wonderful neighbors and friends that checked in on Doris during this trying year. Also, we thank all for their calls, prayers and support during this time.

A celebration of Doris’s life will take place on Saturday, February 13 at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. in Wethersfield. There will be a public visitation from 9:00AM to 10:00AM and service at 10:00AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue in Hartford, 06114.
